Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

In this section we'll address some of the common mis-conceptions about the EV, Solar, and Renewable energy industries.

There's not enough Lithium for all those EVs, right?

Contrary to popular belief, there is more than enough lithium in the world. It's all about supply and demand. There was briefly a severe spike in in lithium prices as EV manufacturers tried to lock in supply (demand) and there  was limited supply, especially in the US and to meet the requirements of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The price of lithium has since nearly come down by half. Plus, there are many sources of lithium beyond the traditional clays from which can be extracted. In California alone, there is enough lithium in the Salton Sea to power the US for a generation. Lithium can even be extracted from sea water, and there's certainly plenty of that. It's all about what economical.

More over there is the whole category of non-lithium based batteries, such as sodium, solid state, liquid metal, iron air etc. The trick is to use the right type of battery for the right purpose.
